Exhibition History
- February 25- April 11, 2015: Art History students added the Strijd ∞ exhibition to the visual culture of the Maagdenhuis until the eviction of all protesters.
- May/June 2015: Strijd ∞ was shown at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven.
- The Van Abbemuseum is renowned for its vision of a museum as a public sphere in which different voices can be expressed and heard. It is, therefore, similar to the demands of university protesters: more democracy. During the Maagdenhuis re-appropriation, the Rietveld Academy held its contextual programme there. As part of the event, Charles Esche, director of the Van Abbemuseum, discussed with students and staff. When he heard about Strijd ∞, he invited the exhibition to the Van Abbemuseum, offering the “room for urgent projects”. At the same time, the artist Ahmet Öğüt had his solo exhibition Vooruit! (Forward!) at the museum and instead asked the work to be included in his exhibition.
- Summer semester 2015: The Freie Universität Berlin held a high-profile lecture series entitled The Art of Protest.
- Speakers included W.J.T. Mitchell, Ariella Azoulay, Gregor Raunig and Oliver Marchart. Contact was established between the organizers Frauke Surmann and Sara Dornhof and the Strijd ∞ exhibition group. They invited Amsterdam students and staff to participate in the lectures via Skype link. The exhibition was also installed in the room used for the lectures at the FU. After a number of weeks the images were removed by cleaning staff.

The project is now supported by the City Archive of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity (ACHI).
